LE TOUR COMES TO WESTCROFT

It has been an incident packed Tour De France this year and we have tried to catch a flavour of it at Spin over the last 3 Wednesdays.

We couldn't do crashing in to telegraph poles and we gave urine throwing a miss but we rode mini versions of stages and even had an "Aggressive Rider" section (yes, there is a prize for it in the Tour!).

A lot of effort went in: Phil clocked over 800 watts on one climb on his bike so was lucky not to get dope tested. Piotr rode in real time to a Polish stage win one afternoon then did a mini version of the stage in the evening. Even Chris Froome doesn’t need the two towels that Steve uses. Fortunately the mountain stages were much shorter than the real thing.

When you look at what the professionals have to go through day after day you get a real sense of just how mind blowingly tough Le Tour must be even for the top riders.
